Fresh, Delicious and Nutritious - A Hawaiian restaurant in Victoria - Poké Fresh

February 4th, 2020

We have visited Poké Fresh several times since they opened last year and we had to recommend it in our new blog!

Poké Fresh, a locally owned restaurant in Cook Street Village. Check out our video interview with the owner, young local entrepreneur Aviv Guy - How Poké Fresh got started, where they get their ingredients from, what their added value is and more!

But first, What is a Poké bowl (“POH-keh”)?

As stated in people.com, Poké means “to slice or cut” in Hawaiian and refers to chunks of raw, marinated fish — usually tuna or salmon — which is then tossed over rice and topped with vegetables and umami-packed sauces.

What can we find in Poké Fresh bowls?

1. Base:

Usually white rice, brown rice or greens.

2. Fish:

You can choose between several fish, including tuna and salmon. If raw fish isn’t your thing, look for options like tofu or crab meat.

3. Toppings:

Add toppings like avocado, onion, edamame and masago to add flavor and crunch.

4. Sauce:

Their sauces are amazing. Our favourite step when creating a custom poke bowl! They have options like Ponzu, Sriracha, Tahini-Miso and more.

5. Garnish:

Tortilla chips, Sesame seeds, fried onions… YUMM
